Hat Trick

Occasion:

Day 3 of raininess and grossness kept me in sweatpants for an inordinately long part of the day...will this weather never end?? I was in a grumpy mood and every time D called just to say 'hi', I was short with him. I began to feel really bad about being down in the dumps, so I decided that getting dressed was in order. As soon as I had my outfit on I felt so much better and my mood instantly lifted. It's amazing what getting dressed can do for your mood and your confidence!

Since the day was so dark and overcast, I wasn't in the mood for a lot of color. I kept the color palette simple with black, gray and white. I am loving this fall sweater! It is merino wool, so on this cooler day it was perfect. The detailing with the asymmetrical two-sided zipper is so much fun and very versatile. I decided to zip it and then unzip a bit from both the top and bottom. I added this heathered gray ruffled undershirt to add some flirty feminine touches to the dark colors. I kept it simple on the bottom with a plain black pencil skirt. I love everything about this newsie cap; from the stripes, to the leather accent strap, to the fit...it's the perfect toss-on-and-go cap! Never mind if you didn't wash your hair that morning, just throw on a newsie and everyone will be none-the-wiser:) I added the black and white necklace to tie everything together and I think that the ensemble really works (especially for getting dressed at 4 PM on a gross depressing day!)

I wear bright colors!!! They always make me feel better. Pinks, oranges, yellows mixed in wit blues and browns.

Love your color combo as well as your accessories.

Great post.

I love this! It's really sharp and cute. A nice bit of clarity of purpose really does cut through the hazy gray of a day.
