A couple weeks ago my friend S posted these really cool turban looks on her daily hair covering blog The Daily Cover. I wasn't so sure that I was brave enough to try it out, but then one of my favorite personal style blogs (and part of the inspiration for this blog), A Modest Attempt at Style, rocked the turban (way to go, Nina!) and I decided that I would just 'go for it'. D didn't really like it, so I probably won't do it again (he said it looked a little 'cancer patient' despite the hair coming out), but it was kinda fun to try something new:) I sometimes get in a hair covering rut, tending to do the same things over and over, and this experience helped me get past that and made me more open to trying different hair covering options. Even if I (or D) don't like them, it opens up many more options and now I think that my attitude will be to give things a chance and not automatically assume that I 'can't pull it off' (which I think a lot of us women do with a lot of different items/styles of clothing or trends).
I wasn't ready to go for a super colorful turban at first, 'cause if I didn't like it, I didn't want to draw a ton of attention to my funky look. I chose this black and white patterned silk scarf because it's pretty hard to go wrong with black and white:) I decided to keep the ensemble in the same color scheme since the turban is already a bit wild! I chose this black button vest with a drawstring belt. Because the top is very fitted, I wanted a loose flowy skirt to balance everything out. This is the black skirt with the eyelet embroidery that I have been loving! So cool and breezy on the scorching summer days. I also kept the color scheme going with my necklace.
White Undershirt: Ruthie's (in Monsey)

Would you wear a turban? Why or why not?
