Mix it Up!

Occasion:

Now that I am back in school full time, I really am trying to pick out my clothes the night before or at the very least, have an idea of what I am going to reach for in my closet the next morning. I know that if I go to bed without any idea then the potential for a closet crisis in the morning really goes up...and when I wake up at 6 AM I really don't want to deal with that! So far I've been pretty successful - just one closet crisis since I started school in the middle of September:)

I love mixing and matching accessories to constantly create new looks and I think that this outfit is a perfect example! I started with a simple black pencil skirt and white cotton long-sleeve shirt. The shirt has a cute ruffle detail which really adds interest. I also love breaking the 'fashion faux pas' that you can't wear black and brown together, so I layered this brown 'menswear-inspired' pocketed vest to contrast with the black skirt. This was the perfect neutral palette to showcase some great accessories! I started with a color scheme: fall warm neutrals. Golds, browns, burnt oranges. I doubled up these coordinating necklaces and added the gold snake-skin print belt. The silk headscarf also tied into the golds and browns. I am loving these patterned tights and they were definitely a steal! I just got these boots and I am so pleased with them. They were a bit pricey, however, I had a great coupon and I believe that if you spend a bit more to get a quality item, it will last you MANY seasons instead of replacing a beaten up item each year.

When do you pick out your clothes? Night before? Day of? Do you have a closet crisis if you don't have any idea what you are wearing?
