Colors of the Leaves

Occasion:

The leaves are really falling off the trees in full force here in Teaneck! In our apartment complex the grassy part of our garden apartments is so full of leaves that you can't see any grass! Keppie LOVES it...she tries to pick up all of the leaves and then she tries to bring them inside our apartment to play with them; it is soooo cute:)

In this outfit, I am definitely channeling the colors of the leaves that have fallen off the trees. The colors of oranges, tans and yellows are gorgeous and when the apartment complex cleared all the leaves off the ground, both Keppie and I were a bit sad. As an ode to the leaves, here is my recreation:) As I mentioned here, I love corduroy skirts for fall/winter. This one is a beautiful camel color and I decided to pair it with this burnt orange cashmere half zip sweater that I got on AMAZING sale this summer. To keep everything in the same warm color scheme, I decided to wear my camel colored equestrian boots. These boots have been amazing! They took only one wear to break them in, and as you can tell, I have been living in them:) To add a bit more interest to this monochromatic color scheme, I layered the sweater with a ruffle tank and wore 2 chunky necklaces together. I love pairing necklaces together when they have a similar color scheme or pattern. It is a great way to add a bit of unexpectedness to an ensemble:)

Outfit:

White undershirt: Elzee (Brooklyn, NY)

Ruffle Tank: J.CREW

Sweater: J.Crew

Tights: Century 21 (Hue)

Skirt: J.CREW

Boots: Banana Republic

Necklaces: Thrifted

What are you doing to channel the beautiful colors of fall?

Cute outfit. I wish I was channeling some of the colors you were. Sadly, I'm not a black wearer and that's all I feel like I've been wearing because of the dreary weather.

You have a collection of nice chunky necklaces I've noticed! :)

The best color for fall is still deep orange in my opinion even when everybody else thinks "camel" is! That is an animal. Not a color. Just kidding!

Have a good weekend, Ally!

I really love orange for fall. I've yet to wear any orange, though! I also like to wear nice chocolatey brown boots during fall.

@Modesty is Pretty - thanks:) thats what I was going for:)

@Fashion therapist - I also go through 'black spells'...and then I need a pop of color to get myself out of the black rut!

@Alamodest - Necklaces are one of my fav things, as i am sure you have noticed:) i dont change my other jewelry ever really, so necklaces help me add some interest to my outfits...i love thrifting necklaces b/c then they are one-of-a-kind...but i also scour the sale bins at my fav stores for fab finds:)

@chandra - orange is actually my fav color...i have a bunch more patiently waiting in my closet:) i also just got a pair of chocolate brown boots and i am just itching to wear them:)

@minnja - thanks so much:)

@lifestylebohemia - thanks:) i had been eyeing this sweater for months and finally scored it when it went on super duper final sale:) i only really wanted it in this color and i think that the fashion sale fairy was with me that day in the mall...as it was the only one in my size:) i love when that happens:)
