One of my favorite style bloggers in the personal style blogosphere is Jessica from What I Wore. She has an amazing sense of style and she is one of the inspirations for this blog! As soon as I saw this post of hers, I knew that I wanted to recreate the look with items out of my own closet. The layers looked so comfortable and, to me, the outfit empitomizes fall. I bought my chambray shirt over the summer, and so far I have just worn it as is...nothing too creative. It is such a versatile shirt, but I couldn't think of much to do with it, so when I saw the layering that Jessica did with hers, I was instantly inspired! After this successful layering attempt, I really want to come up with more ideas for this great fall shirt.
My cream colored sweater is much more structured that Jessica's flowy open weave one, but I think for my body shape, that more structured pieces tend to look better. Curves don't lend themselves well to flowy clothes. I love that Jessica paired the denim shirt with denim jeans because it's usually on the top of the "fashion-don'ts" list and it shows that Jessica isn't afraid to break the 'rules'! That inspired me to pair my own denim, albeit, mine is a denim pencil skirt:) The camel color shoes that Jessica has on are a great color contrast to the denim, and since it has been pretty cool here, I opted for camel-colored equestrian boots. To add my own unique twist to the recreated look, I added this cream colored beret and my gold chain necklace and I think they pulled the outfit together:)
Tights: Century 21 (Hue)

Do you recreate looks that you see on other people's blogs? How do you make them 'your own' and unique?
