30 for 30: Outfit 9

Occasion:

Last night I could not fall asleep. This is evident by my 2AM outfit post...what else was I gonna do while D was snoozing away?:) I was finally able to fall asleep around 3:30...and then my alarm went off at 6:45. I meant to snooze for 10 minutes, but in my hazy state I accidentily turned off my alarm off and woke up again at 9:00...oops! I think my body was telling me that I really needed to sleep more...and I always like to listen when my body tells me to sleep...mmm...I love sleep:)

Well, now that I am up and I woke up too late to attempt to go to school (oops!), I have been super productive cooking and preparing for Shabbos. Already I have made green beans, popcorn cauliflower, coconut lime tart, tri-color garlic roasted potatoes, pesto sauce, bread is rising and fish is in the oven...phew! We are having our best friends over for Shabbos dinner tonight! Shout-out to Y&D and their son K, and Y&A...when we all get together we always have a blast!

This vest is a bit spring-y but I wanted to add it into my 30 for 30 because I wanted to challenge myself to style it for winter. I have been seeing on a bunch of blogs how girls are reworking items for multiple seasons and it really helps to stretch your closet to wear items after their designated season. I am going to start trying to do that more and I think that this periwinkle vest is a great way to start:) This button down has a great ruffle/pleat detail so I decided to layer it underneath my vest. I paired it with my black pencil skirt, wore my black fringy moccasins and completed the ensemble with a long strand of pearls

Outfit:

Vest: Banana Republic

Shirt: J.CREW

Skirt: GAP

Tights: Century 21 (Hue)

Boots: Zappos (Minnetonka)

Necklace: Forever 21

Do you rework items for different seasons? What are some of your ideas for remixing items for multi-season wear?

Putting together an outfit in the middle of the night -- you ARE talented!! I remix items for multi-season wear like t-shirts under zip-up hoodies, short-sleeved cardigans for just about any season, and basic black skirts all year round! I've even started breaking the winter muted-colors-only rule by wearing bright yellow and teal sweaters in the dead of February!

You're quickly catching up with posting now! I love the maritime atmosphere of number 7, the different shades of blue mixed with white. And I understand your enthusiasm for number 6! All those warm colours work amazingly well with the white shirt.

I wouldn't have thought the vest from this post was a spring item if you hadn't said so - I guess that means your remixing for winter worked quite well ;-) I love the pearl necklace with the white shirt and blue vest!

For me it's not so difficult to wear summer clothes in winter as it's just a matter of layering and I don't care for "spring colours" or "winter colours" anyway but wear the colours I like no matter which time of year. It's more difficult the other way round. One simply doesn't want to wear a wool pullover in summer... Therefor I only own a few special winter clothes for the time when it's really cold and much more 'neutral' clothes that can be made useful for most of the year.
