A (Long) Break...a (New!) Babe...and I'm Back!!
I have to begin this post by apologizing to all of my wonderful followers. I never intended to take such a long break, or even take a break at all from blogging, but as you can see, it was for a very exciting and amazing reason:
On March 4th, 2012 at 6:37 AM, D and I welcomed a healthy and happy (Thank G-d) beautiful baby boy into our family!! He weighed 6 lbs. and 13 oz., and was 19 1/2 inches long. He was named at 8 days old in the traditional Jewish ceremony of a Bris Milah.
Named after my paternal grandfather and both of my grandmothers (of blessed memory) his Hebrew name is Yishaya Chaniel (pronounced Yee-shy-uh Chan (gutteral 'ch' - rhymes with 'flan')-eee-el) and we are calling him 'Yishai' (pronounced Yee-shy). His English name is Jacob Hillel, however we will only be using his English name for legal purposes.
I had every intention of blogging throughout the duration of my pregnancy and I am bummed that it didn't happen. I was definitely inspired by a bunch of mommy-personal-style-bloggers out there in the blogosphere and even before getting pregnant, I followed several bloggers on their maternity style journey thinking to myself "I want to blog my maternity fashion when the time comes." Needless to day, that didn't happen. Life definitely got in the way of blogging more than I thought it would. Thank G-d, I had an amazingly easy pregnancy, but between my 3-hour round trip commute into Manhattan everyday for school, doctor's (and later, midwife) appointments (I'll do a series of posts on why we switched from an OB to a midwife...and at 32 weeks, no less!), and baby preparations, I was exhausted! I was usually in PJs about 2 minutes after walking in the door every night unless we had to go somewhere (and then I was mumbling under my breath about how ridiculous it is that sweatpants aren't appropriate attire for every. single. situation.)
I did take a bunch of pictures of my maternity style and I will post what I have in the days to come so that y'all can get an idea of how my style adapted to my changing pregnant body. I tried to do a weekly picture to document the pregnancy, but towards the end of the pregnancy I was definitely slacking with the picture-taking.
I am so excited to start blogging again and to see how my blog and my personal style will evolve as I transition into my new role as a mommy. For sure the content of this blog will grow to incorporate our new addition and mine and D's adventure into parenthood. I have missed blogging so much and I can't believe that I haven't blogged for the better part of a year! Just sitting down to write this post has made me realize what a big part of my life blogging had become and what a tremendous void was created while I was on my extended hiatus. I look forward to reconnecting with all of you!
