Simple Reminders of Southern Living

{On Me: Striped Shirt/Tunic: Old Navy, Hat: J.CREW, Sandals: LOFT, Necklace: Francesca's, Bracelets: Francesca's, J.CREW} -- {On Yishai: Helicopter Onsie/Sweatpants: BabyGap}

 I am a true southerner, born and raised in Tennessee, Georgia and Arkansas!

There are so many things I miss about the south:
laid-back attitude, slow-paced lifestyle, kindness to strangers...the list goes on for a while.

One of the things that I miss the most is the appreciation that southerners have for the little things in life.

When I saw the wisteria beginning to bloom in our parking lot, it immediately brought back memories of my childhood and of so many hours playing 'he-loves-me-he-loves-me-not' with the flower bunches. That reminder of such a simple childhood pleasure made me yearn for the southern lifestyle I desperately miss!

It's funny, those memories of childhood that are all but forgotten until some seemingly innocuous trigger brings them rushing back.

That wisteria only lasted for a little over a week, and was washed away by a sudden nor'easter, but every time I came and went from the apartment, seeing and smelling those pale purple flower bunches made me smile.

I wonder if Yishai will develop similar connections to things here in NJ, and that when we move one day, if certain things that he is growing up with here will be triggered as childhood memories elsewhere.

I hope and pray that he will have only good memories of his (hopefully) short childhood in New Jersey.
