{Sweater: J.Crew (old) / Skirt: GAP / Scarf: J.Crew Factory / Boots: Banana Republic /
Necklace: Gift from D / Watch: Gift from D}

I did it! I bought a new sheital (wig) and I LOVE it!! For those of you who didn't already know, in accordance with Jewish law, as a married woman I cover my hair. Read more about my haircovering journey here (written almost exactly two years ago!). I bought it from new local Teaneck business STYLE. Sheitals & More and it was the best experience I have ever had purchasing a sheital. The stress and anxiety usually associated with this process were absent and I left feeling confident in my purchase and really uplifted with the whole process. Thanks so much to Shira for such an awesome experience and to Lani for my awesome 'haircut'!

I wanted to wear a fun, flirty outfit for the big 'do debut! Navy and red are such a classic, preppy color combo and were so appropriate for this sunny, gorgeous day. This weather is wacko! Sleet/hail yesterday, sunny and in the mid-50s today...whaaaat??

We are leaving for Florida tomorrow for 2 weeks! So excited to see my parents and for Yishai to have quality time with his Nana and Papa. Can't wait for late-night swimming, movie date-nights, 70 degree weather, seeing friends and relaxing! Catch ya on the flip side :)

TGIF! This week definitely alternated between dragging along and flying by. Monday and Tuesday were gone in a flash. Wednesday was one of the saddest days I've had in my almost 11 months as a mommy. Thank G-d, a very healthy baby (k"h), Yishai is almost never sick. On Wednesday, when my very enthusiastic morning eater refused his bottle after just a couple ounces, I suspected something was up. That was just the beginning as we then proceeded to spend the entire day cuddled up on the couch in between bouts of projectile vomiting :( Never a super cuddly baby, Yishai took his naps on my lap, and while I was trying to soak up every delicious minute, knowing that it was because he felt so crummy broke my heart. Alternating between crying, vomiting, sleeping and cuddling, all while hardly leaving the couch, Wednesday felt like a million years long and so when he went to sleep an hour early I had to get out and go to the gym. It felt goood! Despite my lack of rhythm, Zumba always puts me in a good mood and after a day like that it was just what Dr. Mommy ordered!

After sleeping 13 hours (high five, little man!), he was pretty much back to his normal self on Thursday and now we are all looking forward to a visit to Nana and Papa's in FL next week. We can't wait to leave this ice box for a couple week in favor of swimming, boating, visiting with friends and relaxing! Just.have.to.make.it.through.the.freezing.weekend.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and stay warm!!

Also, HUGE MAZAL TOV to our friends J and L on their engagement!!! D and I could not be happier and we wish you all the happiness in the world! We love you both dearly and can't wait to celebrate with you!!

{Coat: J.Crew (sold out online, 40% off in-store now) / Shell: Kiki Riki / Shirt: Banana Republic (old) / Skirt: GAP / Belt: Target / Boots: Banana Republic
/ Necklace: LOFT / Watch: Gift from D}

I remember as a little girl, my mom had a gorgeous winter white coat. Whenever she was getting dressed and I was in the room, I would go into her closet and admire that coat, always thinking that when I was a 'big girl', I, too, wanted a gorgeous winter white coat. I snagged this beauty when it went on 30% off sale on J.Crew's website and I am so glad that I did. The classic shape will never go out of style and the navy trim adds cute detail and visual interest.

Even though purchasing cold weather clothing now may seem like a waste with retailers beginning to debut spring collections, now is the time to invest in good-quality, timeless pieces that normally aren't budget friendly. The sales this time of year can be amazing!

{Sweater, Skirt: J.Crew (both old) / Shirt, Boots: Banana Republic (both old) / Scarf: Target /
Bracelet: LOFT}

These were taken last week when we had the endless grey skies and gloomy weather. Thank G-d, the sun has come back out but today was freeze-your-tush-off cold! Holy cannoli, this takes me back to my days living in Chi-town when my mister and I were engaged in 2008. One of the coldest winters in Chicago history, I remember stepping outside and my nostrils and eyelids freezing together. No joke.  That is scary stuff!

Today wasn't that cold, but that didn't stop my hands from going numb in transit just from the car to inside Target when I stupidly (mommy brain?) forgot my gloves in my other jacket. At least Yishai was warm in his four layer. Try strapping an infant wearing four layers of clothing into a carseat...no, really, try it. It is definitely a skill that takes time to develop. Not to brag or anything, but I'm gettin' pretty good :)

I'll take a cold, sunny day over the gloomy grey ones so keep that sunshine comin'!

Check out my chompers!

{Sweatshirt: Banana Republic Factory / Skirt: Kosher Casual / Boots: Banana Republic (old) / Scarf: J.Crew / Hat: H&M}

{On Yishai: Shirt, Cardi, Pants, Hat: all BabyGAP, Boots: UGG}

We spent the afternoon exploring the city and even though we didn't do anything specific, it was wonderful. Enjoying the sunny day, D and I talking about our future, being together as a family; sometimes that's all it takes to make a perfect day. Yishai was mezmerized by the zamboni in Bryant Park; can't wait to my little guy ice skating for the first time in a couple of years!

Hope everyone has a great week!

DIY - Nursery Hamper

I wanted a really cute and unique hamper for Yishai's nursery, but I didn't want to pay the hefty price tag for an item that holds dirty clothes. After scouring websites and lusting after this hamper (soo adorable!), I stumbled across this one at HomeGoods and I knew that it would be the perfect candidate for a DIY project.

Before: (ugly) Green hamper from HomeGoods

Scotch Blue painter's tape
Valspar Primer (Interior) - White
Valspar White Satin Finish (Interior/Exterior)
1 yard of White upholstery fabric (purchased at Joanne's)
Scissors/Plastic Tablecloth/Staple Gun/ruler/pencil

I taped off the top of the hamper and primed it with several coats of Valspar Primer in white.

Once the primer was dry (after an hour), I sprayed several coats of the Valspar Satin Finish white paint. I let that dry completely for 3 hours.

Using white upholstery fabric, I recovered the top so that the previous pattern would not show through.

I purchased coordinating fabric from Carousel Designs (this same pattern is in Yishai's crib bumper) and stapled it right over the white fabric.

I trimmed both fabrics so that the top would lay nicely.

I love how it turned out and now I have exactly what I wanted without breaking the bank :)
